ATTENTION CLUB DIRECTORS AND COACHES
For a multitude of reasons, including but not limited to, Thanksgiving being so close to December 1, and Internet service not being what we thought it would be in China, we are delaying the opening of AES for tournament registration.
We will open AES for registration on December 3rd for 12s 13s and 14s
We will open AES for registration on December 5th for 15s and 16s
We will open AES for registration on December 7th for 17s and 18s
Along with giving us a better chance at not crashing AES, it should also get you to bed earlier and not have you need to stay up three nights in a row.
AES does NOT recognize time for posting events, only dates, so everything will open at 12:01am on the date listed. We are working at listing the events prior to those dates.
I believe this the best solution to a very trying situation. Please bear with me and trust that I will fix it in the future. Thanks -
Club Directors, this is a busy time of year with the tryout process and team selections process in each of your clubs. At the region level, we are working to plan the GEVA events and need your help. As you define your teams and evaluate the strength of each, please take the time to let the region know what division of play each team in your club is (Open, Club, Local). We have a simple form on the GEVA website under the Club Director Admin section for this purpose. Utilizing this form will enable the region to better plan the venues for our Open / Club events.
A CLARIFICATION WITH REGARD TO THE GEVA COMMITMENT POLICY
Among a barrage of questions related to the GEVA 3+1 (formerly 72 hour) time frame referred to in the guide, I am posting this clarification.
The Common Question is: Regarding the club commitment policy: If my daughter makes a club team and still has another club tryout in another week does she have to make the commitment within the 72 hours after the posting of the numbers or does she have the right to tryout for the other club and then make her decision? Thank you.
First, the policy is not a 72 hour policy. The Policy is a 3+1 policy that counts the day of the offer as the 1st day. There are then three additional full twenty-four hour days that the offer must remain open. (so perhaps better thought of as 1+3) After Midnight on the third full day, any accepted offer is recognized as binding by GEVA. GEVA only stipulates the minimum amount of time an offer must remain open, it does not regulate the length of time that the clubs may leave the offer open after the minimum time span has expired. Any club can set additional time for athletes to decide, and some do, but they all must adhere to the minimum 3+1 rule. There are other parameters listed in the Commitment Guide that must be complete as well for the offer to be considered binding by GEVA. You should review these as well. Bottom line is that the clubs need to adhere to the minimum standard. If they want to allow you extra time, that is up to them. If you are pressured to sign, that is coming from the club, not from GEVA.
It won't hurt to negotiate with the clubs perhaps they will be accommodating.
Welcome Again To The 2014 Season
The GEVA Juniors Competition Committee has made efforts to enhance the competition quality and opportunities across the age groups and levels of play. There are two new divisions “Power League” and “Local” as well as a redefining of the “Open” division. These are all explained.
Please read the documents with regard to these enhancements. They are presented in order to assist athletes and clubs in making sound consumer decisions.
You can find the detailed description of the divisions in the Junior Docs section of the website … http://www.geva.org/page/show/984623-juniors-documents
