2007-08: Adult
Scorekeeping in GEVA
There are three levels of adult scorekeeper
certification that can be earned in GEVA.
Qualified Scorekeeper – tested and
awarded at the local level
Provisional Scorekeeper - tested and awarded at the local level
Regional Scorekeeper - tested and
awarded at the local level
Scorekeeper certification consists of two parts;
1. Candidates must take a
written test covering the rules for and techniques of scorekeeping. All of the information covered is contained
in the USAV rulebook.
2. Following successful passing
of the written test the candidate must keep score at sanctioned tournament and
mail the scoresheets in for evaluation.
As a reminder, Adult GEVA teams planning to play in Regionals must have TWO certified Scorekeeper on their roster
by April 1, 2008 or not be eligible to play.
The following are the requirements and guidelines
necessary to become a GEVA Scorekeeper.
Candidates must start at the Qualification or Provisional level. After a provisional rating is earned, a candidate
may upgrade to the Regional level the following season.
Adult Qualified Scorekeeper -
a.
Obtain a passing grade of 80 on the Scorekeeper Qualification Test open
book exam. The test is downloaded, taken
and then mailed to the Adult Scorekeeper Coordinator for correction.
b.
Following receipt of a passing grade by return mail/email, keep score
at a regular season sanctioned tournament for two games. The completed scoresheets,
with the first referee signatures, will be mailed to the Adult Scorekeeper Coordinator
for review.
c.
Upon completion of the process a Qualified Scorekeeper's certification
card will be sent.
d.
This rating is valid for the current
season only.
Provisional Scorekeeper -
a. Obtain a passing grade of 85
on the Scorekeepers B Test open book exam.
The
test is downloaded, taken and mailed to the Adult Scorekeeper
Coordinator for correction.
b. Following receipt of a
passing grade by return mail/email, keep score at a regular season sanctioned
tournament for three games, one of which must be a deciding game. The completed scoresheets,
with the first referee signatures, will be mailed to the Adult Scorekeeper
Coordinator for review.
c. Upon completion of the
process a Provisional Scorekeeper's certification card will be sent.
d. This rating is valid for the
current season and the following season.
Regional
Scorekeeper -
a. Obtain a passing grade of 90
on the Scorekeepers A Test, open book exam. The test is taken online at (http://www.yankee.org/scorers/usavtest). No correction is needed or allowed.
b. Following receipt of a
passing grade by return email, keep score at a regular season sanctioned
tournament for three games, one of which must be a deciding game. The completed scoresheets,
with the first referee signatures, will be mailed to the Adult Scorekeeper
Coordinator for review.
c. Upon completion of the
process a Regional Scorekeeper's certification card will be sent.
d. This rating is valid for the
current season and the following two
seasons.
