Officials: 2008 Juniors Scorekeepers Certification Requirements
JUNIOR SCOREKEEPING – 2008
Requirements:
1. Attend a GEVA clinic. The average length of the Scorekeeper clinic
is 90 minutes. All of the information
covered is contained in USAV rulebook.
Reading the rulebook in advance of the clinic is not required, as all
necessary information will be covered in detail at the clinic.
2. At
the end of the clinic, candidates will take a written test covering the rules
and techniques scorekeeping. The
passing grade is 80%.
3. The
candidate will then keep score at a GEVA sanctioned event, with a USAV
certified First Referee, who holds a Provisional or higher rating, under actual
match conditions A minimum of one match (2
sets) plus one deciding set are required.
The Referee must sign the completed scoresheets.
4. If the candidate was
certified last season, they must submit
satisfactory scoresheets from one match (2 sets) plus a deciding set to
maintain certification.
5. The Tournament
Director (or the Club Director in the case of deciding set scoresheets
completed at a sanctioned scrimmage) will forward all scoresheets to the Junior
Scorekeeper Coordinator for approval at the following address:

6. The Club Director will
be notified of the certification of the candidate by the Junior Scorekeeper
Coordinator.
7. Certification
is for two seasons. Once certified,
clinic attendance and test will be required every second season to maintain
certification.
Coaches should remind their
players that only 1 legal scorekeeper is allowed at the scoring table. Any other players wishing to score a set may
do so, but away from the score table.
All scoresheets at GEVA tournaments
will be reviewed to assure that certified scorekeepers continue to score
correctly even after receiving certification.
