Officials: 2008 Junior Second Referee Certification Requirements

JUNIOR Second Referee – 2008

Requirements:

1.       Attend a GEVA clinic.  The average length of the R-2 clinic is 90 minutes.  All of the information covered is contained in USAV rulebook.  Reading the rulebook in advance of the clinic is not required, as all necessary information will be covered in detail at the clinic.

2.       At the end of the clinic, candidates will take a written test covering the rules and techniques of the R-2.  The passing grade is 80%.

3.       The candidate will then officiate as R-2 at GEVA sanctioned events, with USAV certified First Referees, who hold a Provisional or higher rating, under actual match conditions.  The candidate must submit two successful rating cards.

4.       If the candidate was certified last season, they must submit one satisfactory rating card in the current season to maintain certification.

5.       Successful rating cards will be returned to the Tournament Director (or the Club Director in the case of ratings completed at a sanctioned  scrimmage) who will forward them to the Junior R-2 Coordinator at the following address:

Mr. Scott Scragg

308 Provincetown Rd.

Cherry Hill, NJ 08034-3652

6.     The Club Director will be notified of the certification of the candidate by the Junior R-2 Coordinator.

7.     Certification is for two seasons.  Once certified, clinic attendance and test will be required every second season to maintain certification.

All certified R-2’s will be monitored at GEVA tournaments to assure that acceptable performances are maintained even after receiving certification.
