Officials: 2008 Junior First Referee Certification Requirements
JUNIOR
First Referee – 2008
Requirements:
1. The Junior R-1 clinic is open to GEVA Junior players only.
2. Candidates
must have been previously certified as a Junior Second Referee and Scorekeeper,
and renew these rating in the current season, or obtain these certifications
before a Junior R-1 designation can be awarded.
3. Attend a
GEVA clinic. The average length of the
R-1 clinic is 4-5 hours. Rulebooks will
be provided at the clinic. Reading the
rules is STRONGLY recommended prior to attending the clinic. If a rulebook is not available, one can be
found at http://geva.org/files/2008/officials/2008IndoorDCR.pdf
4. Following
the clinic, take the online test Form C.
The passing grade is 70%. This
test can be found at (http://www.yankee.org/usavref/usavtest/)
(password = GEA565). The test will then
be corrected to 100% by citing rule book references for questions answered incorrectly.
5. After completing
the test, the candidate will be rated as an R-1 at a regularly scheduled GEVA
tournament. Two successful ratings must
be received from 2 different raters.
6. The
successful candidates will then make copies of their rating sheets and forward
them to the GEVA Officials’ Chair:
Tim
Countryman
7. The
successful candidate will then log onto the assigning web site (www.AssignByWeb.com/GEVA) , first to register, and then once approved, to indicate
availability.
8. Certification
is for 1 season, but can be renewed by attending a clinic and receiving 1
successful rating at an assigned tournament the following season.
Junior R1’s will be mentored and reviewed at each
tournament they officiate after receiving certification to assure that skills
are maintained.
