COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 18, 2015) – USA Volleyball announced that the City of Milwaukee has been selected to host the inaugural 18-and-Under Spring USA Volleyball Girls’ Juniors Junior Championships set for April 30-May 1, 2016.
This new event, with just the 18s age divisions, will be held at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee. The event will crown winners in the Open, National and USA Divisions as has happened in previous USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships (GJNC). In addition, this event will add an all-comers Patriot Division with teams accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The 18 American Division will continue to be held at the summer GJNC. The 2015 GJNC, held June 22-July 3 in New Orleans, will have 18s Divisions for Open, National, USA and American prior to next year’s split.
The move to break off most of the 18-and-under divisions from the GJNC is in response to a growing trend of seniors in high school looking to end their club season earlier than the traditional timeframe of late June into early July. This event will give teams the option of ending their season earlier or playing in this Championship and continuing their season with other events.
“I’m very much looking forward to this first edition of the Spring GJNC for 18s being hosted by Milwaukee,” USA Volleyball Senior Director Tom Pingel said. “Milwaukee and the Badger Region has a long history of hosting great volleyball events, whether indoor or on the Beach. I’m certain that it will be a memorable event for all involved.”
“VISIT Milwaukee is thrilled to be hosting this first-time event for USA Volleyball,” said Marissa Werner, VISIT Milwaukee’s sports and entertainment sales manager. “Milwaukee has a strong volleyball community and we plan to make this a fun experience for all the athletes and their families.”
The program is new for the 2014-2015 season. It is aimed specifically at enhancing an atmosphere of ethical, respectful behavior and good sportsmanship at all GEVA sanctioned events as well as to provide role models for all when our teams travel. The program includes processes for education, support and recognition.

GEVA Juniors 2014-2015 – Inclement Weather Policy
GEVA TOURNAMENT CANCELATION
When will we cancel?
GEVA makes every effort to fulfill our commitment to teams and clubs by conducting all scheduled tournaments. Sometimes things get in the way. Our inclement weather practice has been to hold the tournament if at all possible (even if some teams are more effected than others).
Exceptions are made in dangerous situations, and those beyond our control. If the weather is bad, (snow and ice) your safety is paramount. Do not drive if it you don't feel safe.
Why do we cancel?
We will cancel for two reasons.
1. The staff determines the weather and driving conditions are too hazardous. 2. If the facility where we are holding tournament cancels our access.
When do I know?
When possible, a decision is made prior to 9 pm the evening prior. If a situation worsens overnight, the decision is adjusted prior to 5:30 am the day of the tournament. Once cancelled, we will not have a mind change.
How do I know?
We will send information through webpoint to Cub directors, and AES to participating Clubs. We will also post on juniors and home page of geva.org
Safety is paramount.
Do not drive if it you don't feel safe.
