Junior Girls: J.O. Girls Championships
USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championships
The
2007 USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championships will be held in
Minneapolis, MN from June 29-July 8.
The age classification and play dates
for the Girls Championships are as follows:
12 Club (June
29-July 2)
13 Club (June
30-July 3)
14 Open &
Club (June 29-July 2)
15 Open &
Club (July 1-July 4)
16 Open &
Club (July 4-July 7)
17 Open &
Club (July 5-July 8)
18 Open &
Club (July 3-July 6)
Entry
Procedure:
a. Download and
print out the Pre-tournament Manual from the USAV web (http://www.usavolleyball.org/Juniors/07_Gjo.asp)
site for the instructions and entry requirements.
b. All people
listed on your roster must be registered including those non-playing people
(coaches and chaperones). As a reminder
all of the adults must also be background screened to participate.
c. Individuals
listed as coaches on the roster must have been ‘Impact’ trained as a minimum.
d. Enter your
team's roster including players and staff online following the directions on
the USAV web site and in the manual.
After filling out the registration form, print out a copy for your
information.
e. Complete a National
Entry Form (download) for each
team registered.
f.
Fill out a GEVA Tournament Entry Form (http://geva.org/files/GEVATournamentEntryForm.pdf)
for the ‘Bid Tournament’ and include the roster, as printed from the USA
Volleyball registration system, for the team that will compete.
g. Mail both
Entry Forms (National and Bid tournament) and the roster along with both the
applicable National Entry Fee (payable to USA Volleyball) and the GEVA bid
tournament entry fee ($180 payable to GEVA) to the GEVA Commissioner (home
address) postmarked no later than April 14th. The receipt of these forms in the GEVA office will alert the
Region to your desire to attend a Championship event and serve as your entry in
the bid tournament.
Bid Award Procedure:
a. This year GEVA
will award entry bids based upon a team’s finish in a separate ‘BID’ tournament
to be held April 28/29.
b. Only GEVA
teams that have qualified for the Open Division Regional Championships may
participate.
c. As part of the
National entry procedure each team must include the GEVA Tournament Entry Form
and the roster of players for this tournament in the package sent to the GEVA
office.
d. GEVA must
notify the National office immediately after the tournament as to the teams
acquiring the bid. Teams competing in
the Bid Tournament MUST accept the bid, if awarded. Failure to accept the bid AND compete at J.O. Nationals will
result in the club being ineligible to compete for the Bid in the following
year. Do NOT enter the tournament if
your team is not prepared to participate at the J.O. National Championships.
e. There is the
possibility for a GEVA team to win a Bid at a Qualifier event. If this occurs the team is required to
accept the bid. They will be removed
form the GEVA bid tournament with no penalty.
They will qualify for an entry reimbursement.
f.
In the event that GEVA is awarded an at-large bid(s) in any
age group, the order of finish at the Bid Tournament will determine the order
in which the at large bid(s) is awarded.
Entry Fee Reimbursement:
This year GEVA will reimburse part
of the entry fee for those winning teams attending the Boy's and Girl's
National Championships (not the Girl's Invitational). A schedule of reimbursement will be published at a later date. In order to qualify for this reimbursement
the team needs to submit an article for the newsletter of 300 words or
more. The article must be
electronically submitted to the GEVA Commissioner by September 1, 2007.
USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Invitational
The 2007 USA Junior
Olympic Girls Volleyball Invitational will be held in Atlanta, GA from June 7 – June 10.
All ages will play during
that time.
The tournament is open to
all who wish to enter and those entries will be handled through the Events
Department of USAV. Once a Team Enters,
Accepts and Commits to the Invitational Tournament that team is NO
longer eligible for a bid to the Girls’ JOVC.
A team may submit an early entry without obligation. That entry will be
time stamped and placed on a list in order of submission. Commitment to the
Invitational may be made at a later date if space is still available. Regions Do
Not hold bids for this event.
Each division’s (age
group) entries will be closed when the field is full.
Entry

Bid Award
Procedure:
a.
The National office will contact each team after receipt of
their entry.
b.
The team will be asked to accept and commit to an
entry. If they do so the team will
not be eligible for a bid to the Girl’s JOVC and GEVA will withdraw their entry
from the bid tournament if entered.
c.
If a team does not wish to commit, their entry will be
placed on a waiting list at the National office. After the GEVA Bid Tournament the team will be able to contact
the Events Dept. and solicit entry if room still exists.
Entry Fee Reimbursement:
There is no entry reimbursement for
this tournament.
