High Performance

My experience at high performance this past summer was amazing. Honestly, when I tried out in Arizona, it was just for the experience of seeing what volleyball in other parts of the country was like. When I found out that I was selected to be part of the Girl's Select A2 Program, I was shocked. Excited initially, I soon became very nervous. With only five other girls from the east coast in the program, I was scared that there would be large, intimidating girls from California and Texas who were just too amazing at volleyball. And don't get me wrong, there were plenty of them. But as the program continued I realized that those girls and myself were in the same position. We were there to learn how to be a better volleyball player. With the help of the experienced coaches, we worked on improving our technique for the first five days in Tucson. The following five days were tournament play. That, I think would have to be the best part of the program. As opened to people from around the country as I thought I was, having one of my roommates from California and the other from Hawaii, I was surprised to learn that I still had much more to see. We got to scrimmage against the Chilean high performance team, played Peru during the tournament, and even played against and sang Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga songs with the girls from the Chinese team! Overall, the experience was a great one, and I am very excited for the Holiday Camp in Colorado Springs!

Sincerely,
