Hi, I'm been playing vball recreationally for years but now want to begin playing competitively. I live in central NJ (the PRinceton area). Can you please suggest how I can improve my skills and where do I go to find teams that play competitively i.e what are the next steps? Are there any places where I can go to improve my skills and fitness. Thanks

Curious question-are the Olympic teams limited to college kids?

I also live in Central Jersey and have successfully found lots of places to build my skills for competitive play. GPVA runs a competitive league for coed, men's and women's volleyball at Princeton Day School. (visit www.gpva.org) The Raritan Athletic Center in Flemington (www.eteamz.com/racsports/) has an Adult Open Play on Friday nights which is very competitive. They also offer private and group clinics. Additionally, Bob Bertucci (www.bobbertucci.com/) and Pat Powers (vbclinics.com) have clinics for Adults which are extremely beneficial to improving your skills.

Lastly, if you are looking to play in some GEVA tournaments, I have started a new team and welcome ambitious players. If you are interested, you can contact me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Hope that helps!

Best regards,

Shawntell
