Creole White entered our fourth Nationals together hoping this would be the year everything ‘clicked.’ To make a long story short, it was, and at the end of competition, Creole White stepped up to the podium as the 2012 Men’s AA Champions.

A 3-1 record in pool play secured a spot in the Gold Bracket, despite dropping our last match to the tournament #1 seed. Seemingly unfazed by our lone loss, we started the third day of competition with a renewed sense of purpose and dominated our Gold bracket seeding match. We then won our first playoff match decisively and moved directly to the fourth and final day, where just three victories would make us Champions. Our morning match was a nail biter. After faltering in the first set, we dug deep and pulled out the next two games in true Creole White fashion. Now in the Winner’s bracket final, we knew a win would put us through to the Final and allow us some much needed rest. With that in mind, we executed our best match of the tournament, and marched into the Final with the Gold medal within our grasp. To be completely honest, the finals were a blur, but it did end on a resounding kill from Tommy ‘Playoffs’ Bochicchio (perhaps fittingly the most impressive kill of the tournament), and a BroFist style celebration. An incredible moment all around, to say the least.

It was a total team effort, and congratulations go out to all the guys on this year’s squad: Rob McAndrew, Praveen Pamidimukkala, Matthew Bninski, Thomas Bochicchio, Evan Finch, Dr. Jeffrey Barr, Ori Oren, Sean Riley and last, but not least, Kevin ‘Sota’ Deslauriers.

We, of course, have to thank the Creole Women’s team for cheering us on throughout the playoffs; our setter’s candy bar supplier, Rite-Aid; and of course Matt’s Mom from whom the guys get many things, but mostly inspiration.
