Nationals Perspectives

Metropolis 2012,

What a great year, what a great tournament and what a great week. Our men's and women's team have been traveling to the USOPEN and participating in them in over a decade now. It is an experience that all of you Volleyball players must experience at least once your life time. Let's start with the city, Salt Lake city this year BEAUTIFUL, wow what a nice city, so clean, residents were so polite and all that we heard about it being a lame city was nothing but Wrong! Bars, Clubs, inexpensive and polite service. Most importantly it was the cleanest city we have been to in all the years I have traveled to the Open. Competition was awesome a lot of teams from all over the country and a strong showing from our Region. Hey GEVA players thank you for all your support this year! Teams VBLI, Black & Tan, Empire state, NorthShore, and our own Metro-LaFemme and Metro-ZZi , & many more who cheered us on all the to the finals, Thank you. On the behalf of the team I would like to tell you all that it is much more loving to play volleyball representing in Region, Our GEVA region when you are all sitting there to cheer for us. We are a big team, that felt like a part of a BIGGER family. For those who were not there we won Silver, A Bitter sweet, but when I look back now weeks after the tourney and see how much we accomplished together, I think it was all sweet. USA Volleyball again did an amazing job coordinating a wonderful tournament. We normally get to city sites a day earlier to do some site seeing I have to add that we took a drive to Park City, where the winter Olympics were held, and it was beautiful. Playing USA Volleyball is an experience a travel, an adventure and all beautiful memories. After 22 years of playing for USA Volleyball and Geva I can't thank those who run it enough, Can't wait for next year Louisville KY.
